Situated along Highway 10, in the southeast of Annapolis County, near the junction with Kings and Queens counties, is Waterloo Lake. Four miles long and dotted with islands. Part of one of the best canoeing routes in Nova Scotia. Waterloo Lake has been stocked with trout by the provincial government, and deer are regular visitors too!

Twenty miles north is Provincial Highway 101 (Evangeline Trail), leading east to Kentville and the Bay of Fundy (Highest tides in the world.) Or west to the center of Annapolis County and the city of Digby (Ferry service to New Brunswick.)

Thirty miles south is Provincial Highway 103 (Lighthouse Route), and the historic towns of Bridgewater, Mahone Bay and Lunenburg (World Heritage Site). Travel south on the Atlantic oceanside route to Liverpool ("Port of the Privateers") and further on to the city of Yarmouth (Ferry service to Bar Harbor and Portland, Maine).

Less than an hour north along this highway from Bridgewater is metro Halifax, the capital of Nova Scotia, where one will find both national and international connections by sea and air.
